Community Involvement

We are honoured to support causes that truly impact the lives of Nova Scotians. We are proud to see our support has provided the following outcomes to date:

  • Partner in expanding and enhancing the simulation sites at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, so that trainees and practicing physicians have a state-of-the-art learning environment.
  • Assisting youth through Phoenix House Programs to attend university.
  • Provided Nova Scotia families-in-need a Christmas they will never forget.

We are proud to support these objectives through the following charitable organizations:

QEII Health Sciences Centre

The QEII Health Sciences Centre takes care of Atlantic Canadians when they need it most. With 700 physicians, more than 7,000 staff and 1,200 volunteers, the QEII is the largest adult health sciences centre in Atlantic Canada.

The QEII serves as the specialized care centre for Atlantic Canada in areas such as heart health, cancer care, neurosurgery and organ transplantation. As the local community hospital for immediate care and emergency services providing the most advanced care available today, the QEII is a leading medical research and teaching centre for tomorrow’s healthcare professionals.

QEII Health Sciences Centre Foundation

The QEII Foundation inspires generosity to advance health care at the QEII Health Sciences Centre. With financial support from all levels of the community, the QEII Foundation helps fund new technologies, medical research, innovation and professional education that contribute to life-changing moments experienced every day by patients and their loved ones. By working together with people who share a vision of better health, the Foundation strengthens care delivered at the QEII, improving the health and lives of Atlantic Canadians. For more information about the QEII Foundation’s current priorities, visit

Vision Statement

We recognize the value of all youth, and strive for a world where they live with dignity, free from oppression, in a healthy, safe environment. We imagine a society where our services are no longer needed.

Mission Statement

We support at-risk and homeless youth within our extended community. Our intent is to break the cycle of homelessness by offering a wide range of programs and services. We strive to be a meaningful presence and a voice for social justice in the lives of the youth we serve.

Alice Housing provides safe second stage housing and supportive counselling to women and children leaving domestic abuse.

With 18 units located in the Halifax Regional Municipality, Alice Housing has provided a wide range of services to over 900 families in crisis from violence since 1983 and is one the largest and oldest second stage housing organizations in Canada.

The programs and services of Alice Housing are nationally and regionally recognized by The Donner Foundation and Charity Intelligence. We also have received the Ethics Award for the Non-Profit Sector from the Better Business Bureau- Maritime Provinces.

By providing safe, affordable housing and counselling for up to two years, families are able to recover from abuse so that violence does not have to frame their future or define their legacy.
